A good race until cramp struck

On Saturday 22 April, the Italian Youth Duathlon Championships took place at the international circuit in Maggione. For me, it was a memorable race that began with a strong 5 km run in and around the circuit. Together with two rivals, we established ourselves and mounted our bikes as a trio. On the bike, we took regular turns and put more than a minute and thirty seconds between ourselves and the chasing group. Unfortunately, cramps during the final 2.5 km run prevented me from competing with my two rivals. Although the result was not what I had hoped for, I am still very satisfied with my performance in the first two legs.

The following day, I had the chance to prove myself in the relay with my home team, Schwimmclub Brixen. With the fastest run and bike times, I put the previous day’s disappointment behind me and regained my confidence.

in brief:

I competed in the Italian Youth Duathlon Championships. Alongside my rivals, I left the chasing group behind on the run and bike. Cramps in the final run meant I lost to my competitors. The next day, I delivered the fastest run and bike times in the relay.
